Larkana Jail operation to get free 5 policemen from prisoners halts

LARKANA: The operation for getting free the five policemen, who were taken hostage by the prisoners, has been stopped, Geo News reported.

Larkana Jail operation was started by the law enforcing agencies since yesterday evening for controlling the rioting prisoners and getting release of the five policemen taken hostage by them.

Meanwhile, 70 rowdy prisoners surrendered to the authorities, while the other rebellious prisoners are still holding the hostage five policemen. The prisoners resisting the operation hurled stones wounding seven policemen including the DSP.

Larkana Central Jail SP, Abdul Ghaffar Dhar told that the process of shifting 200 prisoners from the Larkana to other jails was started yesterday on judicial order, which the prisoners resisting went rowdy and violent, broke the locks of the three barrack and smashed the jail door. The prisoners during the rampage hurled stones, injuring seven policemen including DSP Muhammad Ali Khoso and SHO Ali Asghar Kangu.

The injured were shifted to the Chndka Medical Hospital, where one was said to be in serious condition.

Jail officials have called for the fresh contingents of district police and rangers for controlling the mutinous situation.
