KARACHI: The employees of the Pakistan International Airlines (PIA) went on a snap strike on Sunday in protest against the murder of the People’s Unity, CBA union President, Aamir Shah, resulting in the flights going disarray and the passengers left stranded, Geo News reported.

The infuriated activists of the People’s Unity on the murder of their union president Aamir Shah after 8.00 P.M last night forced shut the Jinnah Terminal PIA booking office, the aircrews briefing room and the passenger counters at the Karachi, Lahore and Islamabad airports, which resulted in delays of local and international flights including flights to Dubai, Manchester, London, Dammam and Abu Dhabi.

Scores of flights at Karachi airport are delayed, which included seven international and ten domestic flights.

Meanwhile, PIA spokesperson said that special PIA officials have been called to the airports and the flights have been rescheduled to depart today after 2 P.M. All the flights within and outside the country are late by five to seven hours.

Airport sources told that flights scheduled to leave for Islamabad at 8.30, Dubai at 10.00 and Karachi at 11.00 would now be leaving inordinately delayed after 1.00 P.M.

Meanwhile, the passengers remained stranded and haplessly waiting the flights to resume.
